If you’re searching for a crypto exchange in Kwun Tong, the good news is that Kowloon East has the real thing: two walk-in counters on Hoi Yuen Road, One Satoshi at No. 68 and VBIT at No. 63, both with addresses and hours on their own websites. The less obvious news is legal. Since the Stablecoins Ordinance took effect, shops like these may not offer USDT to the public, which is exactly what many people come to Kwun Tong looking for.

Beyond the two counters, Kwun Tong, Ngau Tau Kok, Lam Tin and Yau Tong have seven crypto machines between them, and Kowloon Bay adds four more: 11 in total, according to the COINHERO, CoinUnit and Localcoin lists we checked on 6 October 2026. We haven’t tested them on site, and a listed machine isn’t guaranteed to be working. Only one of the 11, COINHERO’s unit at Yue Man Square, buys crypto back, and it is the only such machine anywhere in Kowloon East.

Hoi Yuen Road: two crypto exchange shops, one block

Hoi Yuen Road, just outside Kwun Tong station’s B2 and B3 exits, sits in the belt of former factory buildings converted to offices, and it is the most concentrated spot for crypto retail in Kowloon East. The two shops are less than a block apart, which makes it easy to compare quotes before you commit.

One Satoshi runs more walk-in crypto counters than anyone else in Hong Kong. Its Kwun Tong branch is on the mezzanine of Kwun Tong Plaza, reached via Exit B2 according to the operator. It deals in cash only, and its FAQ says no ID is needed up to HK$120,000; above that you’ll be asked for an HKID or passport, possibly with a recent proof of address. Customers can also sell coins back to the counter. Our One Satoshi review covers the whole chain.

VBIT’s Kwun Tong branch is on the ground floor of Fook Cheong Building, about 100 metres from Exit B3 by the operator’s directions. It lists BTC, ETH, SOL, BNB, DOGE and TRX, and says it covers miner fees. Notably, it now marks USDT as sell-to-shop only, which lines up with the Stablecoins Ordinance. See our VBIT review for details.

Neither shop holds an SFC licence, simply because no licence for walk-in shops exists yet. Pricing, ID checks and complaints are entirely up to the shop, and there is no investor compensation fund to claim from if something goes wrong. Our crypto shops guide compares counters across the city.

Yue Man Square YM²: the only buy-back machine in Kowloon East

COINHERO’s Kwun Tong #1 sits in Shop 205 on the second floor of Yue Man Square YM², 33 Hip Wo Street, open 10am to 10pm. It is one of only eight machines in Hong Kong that the operator flags as two-way. Buying costs 13% plus HK$100; selling costs 13% plus HK$25; registered members pay 6.5% either way.

To put numbers on it: sell HK$10,000 worth of Bitcoin as an unregistered user and HK$1,300 plus HK$25 comes off, leaving about HK$8,675 in cash. Anything over HK$100,000 in one go requires registration with email, phone code, HKID or passport, a selfie and a fingerprint. If you don’t need cash in hand today, selling on a licensed exchange and withdrawing to your bank usually costs far less; our cash-out guide runs the comparison.

Addresses are copied exactly as the operators publish them; MTR stations are our own pointer to the nearest stop. A third-party database also lists a Nitroswap machine at Yue Man Shopping Centre, 300–302 Ngau Tau Kok Road, but we couldn’t confirm it, so it isn’t counted.

The spread is very Kwun Tong. CoinUnit’s Aegean Place unit in Hung To Centre on How Ming Street keeps industrial-building hours, Monday to Saturday 8am to 9:30pm, while its LaundrYup on Ka Lok Street and Sunshine 24 in Shun Tin Shopping Centre are 24-hour laundromats. COINHERO has round-the-clock machines on Ting On Street in Ngau Tau Kok and on level 4 of Sceneway Plaza in Lam Tin. Localcoin’s only Kowloon East kiosk is in Yau Tong Centre; the operator’s system labels it “Wong Tai Sin”, but the address is plainly Yau Tong.

Kowloon Bay: four machines among the offices and malls

Kowloon Bay has no staffed counter, but four machines sit in its office and mall complexes. Localcoin’s kiosk at Eastmark, 21 Sheung Yuet Road, opens earliest, at 7am, and closes at 10pm; CoinUnit’s at TBG Mall, 3 Ngau Tau Kok Road, runs 11:30am to 10pm. COINHERO’s two, at Kai Yip Shopping Centre and a laundromat at 33 Ngau Tau Kok Road, are open 24 hours. All four are buy-only, so selling means a trip to Yue Man Square.

Crypto HK runs a members’ club further north in a San Po Kong industrial building, by appointment only; it isn’t a public counter. Machines in Kowloon City, Wong Tai Sin and San Po Kong are on the Bitcoin ATM map.

The Hung To Road case: Kwun Tong’s cautionary tale

Kwun Tong’s industrial blocks are full of upstairs units, which also makes them good cover for fake shops. According to on.cc on 25 April 2025, a person brought HK$1 million in cash to an upstairs shop on Hung To Road on 17 April to buy USDT. The shop kept insisting the coins “hadn’t arrived”, and in the meantime a third party took the cash. For clarity: CoinUnit’s Hung To Centre machine is in a different building in the same industrial area and has nothing to do with the case.

Cases like this share a recipe: an anonymous upstairs room, a large amount, cash payment, and the other side controlling when the coins “land”. If you must pay cash for a bigger trade, pick a shop with a published address at street level or in a mall, bring someone with you, and only hand over money once the coins show up in your own wallet. If you think you’ve been scammed, call the 18222 Anti-Scam Helpline. More cases on our scams page.

A practical example

A Kwun Tong office worker paid into HSBC wants HK$3,000 of Bitcoin. The cheapest move isn’t a lunchtime walk to Hoi Yuen Road; it’s opening a licensed account that evening.

HK$3,000 through a COINHERO machine as an unregistered user costs HK$490 in fees. The same amount sent by FPS to a licensed exchange costs a few dollars. Shops and machines are worth it for cash and immediacy; if your money is already in a bank, you need neither.

Beyond Kwun Tong: buying online

With an HKID and a bank account, online routes are almost always cheaper than counters and machines. As of October 2026 the SFC lists 13 licensed virtual-asset trading platforms; HashKey Exchange and OSL accept HKD by FPS and eDDA, and client assets are held by an associated custodian. See the full SFC-licensed platforms list and our FPS deposit guide.

ZA Bank, Mox, Futu and Tiger let you buy inside an app you may already use, executed by a licensed platform in the background, though most don’t let you withdraw coins. If you want to pay instantly by card or Apple Pay, or need a wider coin choice, international platforms such as CEX.IO are an option: Hong Kong is not on its unsupported-jurisdictions list, but it is not SFC-licensed, offers no HKD or FPS deposits, and your bank may code the purchase as a cash advance.

Nearby, Tseung Kwan O has six machines and no shops, while heading west on the Kwun Tong line takes you to Mong Kok, the densest cluster of shops and ATMs in the city. To check any platform’s licence, compare the company name and web address against the SFC’s list of licensed platforms.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a crypto exchange shop in Kwun Tong?

Yes, two. One Satoshi is at Shop M4, Kwun Tong Plaza, 68 Hoi Yuen Road (Exit B2), and VBIT is at 63 Hoi Yuen Road (Exit B3), both listed on the operators’ own websites as of 6 October 2026. Neither is SFC-licensed, because no licence for walk-in shops exists yet. Compare them with other districts in our crypto shop guide.

Where is the Bitcoin ATM in Kwun Tong that buys crypto back?

COINHERO’s Kwun Tong #1, at Shop 205, 2/F, Yue Man Square (YM²), 33 Hip Wo Street, open 10am to 10pm daily. It is the only buy-back machine in Kowloon East and one of just eight in Hong Kong. Selling costs 13% plus HK$25, or 6.5% for registered members. The other ten machines in Kwun Tong and Kowloon Bay are buy-only.

Can I buy USDT at a Kwun Tong crypto shop?

Since 1 August 2025 the Stablecoins Ordinance has allowed only licensed parties to offer specified stablecoins to the public, and the government has said OTC shops are not among them. VBIT now lists USDT as sell-to-shop only. For lawful ways to get USDT, see our USDT guide.

Do Kwun Tong crypto shops ask for ID?

One Satoshi’s FAQ says no ID is needed for transactions up to HK$120,000; above that it asks for an HKID or passport and possibly proof of address from the last two months. It takes cash only. VBIT doesn’t publish an ID threshold on its website. Expect stricter checks once the dealer licensing regime starts.

Are there crypto shop scams in Kwun Tong?

Yes. On 17 April 2025, someone took HK$1 million in cash to an upstairs shop on Hung To Road to buy USDT; the shop kept saying the coins “hadn’t arrived” and a third party walked off with the cash, on.cc reported. Avoid upstairs units you don’t know, and never hand over money before the coins show in your wallet.
